Why Personal Training at CrossFit Federal Hill?

At CrossFit Federal Hill our coaches pride themselves on giving you the best quality coaching.  We work to give you a personal feel in group sessions.  You are welcome to seek us out for help before or after class.  But, if you really want to dig in and make specific improvements in certain movements or just accelerate your overall fitness then personal training could be a great option.

Accelerate Results

We all want to be better versions of ourselves.  That is why we are here, pursuing fitness, but overall striving to be a better human.  If you want to speed up that processes you can seek out specific and individual help.  If there is one thing that we stop as adults it is seeking out great teachers.  Children get piano lessons, ballet lessons, language lessons and if they are lucky, one on one gymnastics lessons.  As adults we usually use the google machine.  Look something up and think “Well, I am an adult, I am smart.  I will watch a few YouTube videos on how to play a guitar and pick it up.” Says the guy who never really learned how to play. Finding an expert and paying them will get you results faster.

Accountability, Motivation and Results

If you have ever taken 2-3 weeks off at CFH you have probably received an email from us.  We stay on top of everyone.  It is our job to hold you accountable.  We only want motivated people.  But, when it comes to working on a specific task we can not hold everyone accountable.  People are motivated when they have someone to report their results to.  That is why nutrition coaching is so successful.  You have the double fudge brownie sitting there at work,  you could just eat one.  But you think about Coach Alexa and all the work she has put in for you.  Then you envision your next meeting and dread having to tell her, so you pass it up.  Same thing when it comes to pull up drills.

The Art of Teaching

Sessions with a personal trainer are not like the ones you see in the movies.  “5, 4, 3, 2, 1… good! Next grab these dumbbells and curl them 10 times.”  Our goal is to teach you the why behind movements and develop a plan that you can use in the long run.  Teach you how to fish, not just catch the fish for you.  We are not a talking head that is going to give you a sheet of paper.  Our goal is to get you specific results.

A good teacher also breaks down barriers and fears.   An easy fear to relate to is jumping on a 20 inch box.  But what if things ran deeper than that?  You can not do a muscle up, because you do not have a pull up because you are afraid to try; afraid to put yourself out there due to fear of failure.  We do our best to create a fun and inviting atmosphere, but sometimes everyone needs a little TLC.  A one on one environment is safe, but with correct teaching and instruction can push people way outside their comfort zone.
